Diagnostics beyond experts.
Helping FCD move automotive diagnostics from a tool built by experts for experts, to a cloud and mobile platform every workshop technician can use.
Sneak peek
What we are building — Product scope
Advanced diagnostics in every technician’s hand — because the cloud leads the way instead of just displaying data.
For decades, diagnostic software has shown the technician what the car is doing and left interpretation to them. The expert reads the data fluently; everyone else guesses. FCD is changing that — and the product we are building turns the cloud from a passive readout into an active guide:
- Interprets, not just displays: the cloud reads logger data, flags abnormal patterns, and proposes a ranked list of hypotheses with confidence levels
- Leads the way: at every step it tells the technician what to try next, what would be most informative, and what can already be eliminated
- Available wherever the technician is: same guided workflow in the FCD Cloud and in the mobile companion — VIN scan, test-ride, and recording start in the bay
- Escalates with full context: when the data calls for an expert, the cloud packages the case in one click — no rework, no lost reasoning

The challenge
The challenge
The shift
“The diagnostic cloud was built by experts, for experts. To grow, it has to be usable by every technician — without losing what the experts already trust.”
Workshop technicians today bounce between OBD tools, spreadsheets, and phone calls to a small pool of specialists. The cloud was never designed for them, and it shows. FCD set us six concrete uncertainties a technician needs the cloud to resolve before they can act:
- Orientation — what kind of case is this?
- Data — do I have enough to decide?
- Hypothesis — what is most likely?
- Next step — what should I try?
- Help — when do I escalate?
- Closure — can I confidently close this?

The scope
From discovery to delivery:

The result
Where we are going
A diagnostic platform where the cloud co-reasons with the technician — and only loops in an expert when the data calls for it.
What the shift unlocks:
- Technicians start, advance, and close cases in the cloud — not just hand them off
- AI hypotheses turn raw logger data into a structured next-best action
- The mobile app removes the desk: VIN scan, test-ride, recording — all on the phone
- Experts spend their time on the cases that actually need them, with full context already attached
FCD’s reference database and Logger hardware are a unique competitive moat. The product we are building is the surface that makes that moat usable by the whole workshop network — not just the specialists at the center.
“We are not just modernizing a UI — we are repositioning what the diagnostic cloud is for. Iguana is helping us make that shift visible to every technician who opens the app.”
